Author: T. Taylor German cockroaches are some of the most persistent cockroaches in the United States. As with any pest, they can become an enormous problem in your home if not taken care of. Don't let these cockroaches multiply. Each egg capsule contains from 20 to 40 eggs and can infest your home quickly.
German cockroaches are mostly found indoors but can be found outdoors. This is usually due to a heavy infestation indoors. They like tight places and this is usually why you find them mostly in cracks and crevices and mostly at night. But in a home with a heavy infestation you will find them everywhere, day and night.
The German cockroach is about 1/2 to 5/8 inches long and loves your home. Rid yourself of these as soon as possible or you will be sorry.
The old way of treating for German cockroaches is by cleaning out your cabinets and spraying around your baseboards. Some of the old timers still do this. But let me tell you, I have been treating for German cockroaches for about 13 years now and all this does is rid your home of these pests for a short period of time. They will move back into the wall and stay away from the sprays until the smell is gone and they will return. Sure, you are going to kill a few.
The best way I have found is to use baits. I have cleaned many homes of German cockroaches and it works. You can call a professional but be careful. Not all companies are honest. But that is another story.
You can do it yourself by going to your local hardware store or home center and buy some Combat roach bait gel. I think Walgreen's carries this product. It usually comes in a syringe or tube and apply this gel in all cracks and crevices in your home. All kitchen cabinets ( you don't have to empty your cabinets ). Just apply it in tiny dots about the size of a BB and no larger than a pea. Apply it to all corners of your cabinets and anywhere else you see cockroaches. Do a search on your favorite search engine for a product called Max Force Roach Gel. It's what the pros use.
Even boric acid works good. If you have a heavy infestation open up all your electrical switch plate covers and apply in in these.
